Funerals and Memorials
Many times when a loved one passes, we are left
with an empty feeling and an uncertainty of what arrangements to make. A grave side service with a
dove release creates a symbolic and peaceful
occasion. It can help give closure and a sense of release...that the
spirit has lifted and
become free. Customarily, a lone dove, representing the spirit of the
deceased, is released at a given time during
the service, often accompanied by a Scripture reading. Then three more
are released symbolizing the Father, Son and
Holy Ghost leading the spirit of the loved one home to heaven. Generally, the birds will circle around a
time or two while all join together for the journey
home.
About Our Birds
Pure White "Rock Doves" (White Homing
Pigeons) are used for all Humane releases. Unlike domestic doves,
homing pigeons possess a natural "homing" instinct. It is this
instinct, augmented with extensive training, that allows them to return
safely to their loft following a release. Releasing domestic doves,
such as those available at pet shops, is an extremely inhumane act.
These birds possess no homing instinct or the flying ability to allow self
preservation and will quickly starve or fall prey to
predators.
Pricing
Our pricing structure is based on the distance our birds must travel to get home from the release site. The longer it takes them to return safely home determines the price of our services.
Our dove release services begin at $125 and are determined by the type of release you desire. Various levels of service are available and are determined by the number of doves to be released and any other requests or ancillary services desired.
